In 2012, The Local Traveler launched The Local Wishlist campaign. It was created to showcase great gift ideas available from independently owned local businesses and local producers and to make it easier for shoppers to find and purchase their gifts closer to home. Shoppers enjoyed using it, producers connected with retailers and awareness was raised through our multimedia interactions. With local gift ideas in one place, shoppers told us they found it much easier to shift their purchases to local.
The list was integrated with Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and our blog platform so that shoppers could easily view and share gift ideas with a number of online tools.

The list continues to generate views and clicks from those searching ‘Halifax Gift Ideas, NS Gift ideas, and other searches.
This year we will be re-­‐working the Local Wishlist into an online catalogue (a play on the Sears Wishbook). We have capability to add photo albums, videos and articles for shoppers to browse online or offline, and hyperlinks when a person is online so that shoppers can click through to the company website, social media channel or online store.

Downloading the wishlist is free for the shopper. The catalogue is divided by area and sub-­‐divided by gift type, so you can easily find gifts for mom, dad, kids and pets in your own neighbourhood, or plan a shopping roadtrip to another area of the province.

Our networks have grown significantly over the past year, from 3,800 to 24,000 across channels. We are also partnering with Avoiding Chores on this project, who brings an additional 13K followers across channels for a total reach of 37K!

What We Need From You:

Here is the information we will need for each listing:
1. Product name (i.e: Romance Package for Two at Chantilly Inn)
2. Store or destination name
3. 140 character gift description – twitter length
4. How to purchase (online purchase, retail locations*, etc)
5. Relevant Social Links (twitter, FB, etc)
6. Website
7. A photo of the gift item (150 DPI, Square)

*If a product has multiple retail locations, we can list up to 5, and include a link to your page with the full list of retail locations.
If you choose a package that includes an article/articles, advertisement, or article, here are the specs:

Flip Album: Up to five images per album plus captions(1500 Pixel width or higher)

Article: 500 word (or less) article with up to two high res images and up to 5 links. Text should be submitted as a word file with links activated. Photos should be submitted as jpeg images.

Advertisement: Square Image. Please save as a JPEG file 1500×1500 or larger
You are permitted to sell listings back to your membership if you purchase a group rate, however the cost per listing may not exceed $20 and the cost per photo in the slideshow may not exceed $100
